Terms of use
Last updated 30 October 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and the developer of Sin Bin ("we", "us") for using the Sin Bin game at sinbin.lol and in our apps (together, "Sin Bin"). By playing, hosting or joining a game you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use Sin Bin. Our privacy policy explains how we handle information and forms part of these terms.
1. What Sin Bin is
Sin Bin is a free, multiplayer footy trivia and party game. One person hosts a room and others join with a room code on their own devices. You don't need an account.
Sin Bin is an independent fan-made game. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or connected to the National Rugby League, the Australian Rugby League Commission, State of Origin, any club, player or broadcaster. Names of teams, competitions, people and events are used only to refer to real footy history, and any trade marks belong to their owners.
2. Who can play
You must be at least 13 to use Sin Bin. If you're under 18, you need the permission of a parent or guardian, and they are responsible for your use of the game. The game contains footy-culture humour, including references to pubs and beer.
3. Hosting a room
- The host controls the room: who plays (by sharing the code), the settings, when rounds start, pausing at half time and closing the room.
- Share your room code only with people you want to play with. Anyone with the code can join while the room is in its lobby.
- If you put Sin Bin on a screen in a public place, you are responsible for what's shown there.
4. Playing fair and keeping it friendly
Banter is the point. Being a dropkick isn't. When you use Sin Bin you agree not to:
- write, draw or name anything that is hateful, discriminatory, threatening, harassing, sexually explicit, or that promotes violence, self harm or illegal activity;
- target or bully a real person, including other players, players, officials or public figures, or post anyone's personal information (addresses, phone numbers, private photos and the like);
- impersonate someone else in a way that misleads people;
- break the law, or infringe anyone's copyright, trade marks or other rights;
- cheat, hack, reverse engineer, scrape, overload or interfere with Sin Bin, its database or other players' games, or use bots or automated tools to play;
- use Sin Bin for advertising, spam or anything commercial without our written permission.
Hosts can close a room at any time. We may remove content, end games or block access if we reasonably believe these rules have been broken.
5. Your content
You own what you create in the game: your answers, team names and drawings ("your content"). So that the game can work, you give us a free, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to store, copy, display and transmit your content to the other players in your room, and to keep it for as long as described in our privacy policy. We don't use your content for anything else, such as advertising, without asking you first.
You're responsible for your content and promise that you have the right to share it and that it follows section 4. Please don't put personal information about yourself or anyone else into it.
6. Our content
The Sin Bin name, game design, questions, illustrations, software and website are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by law. You may use them only to play Sin Bin. Don't copy, sell or republish them without our permission. You're welcome to share links and screenshots of your games.
7. Points, bets and prizes
Points, ladders, badges and Golden Point "bets" exist only inside the game. They have no monetary value, can't be bought, sold or exchanged, and Sin Bin involves no real money gambling of any kind. If you run your own competition or prize using Sin Bin, it's your competition, and you are responsible for following any laws that apply to it.
8. Questions and facts
We work hard to make our trivia accurate, but footy history is full of arguments and we can't promise every question, answer or fact is error free. If you think we've got one wrong, let us know. Sin Bin is for entertainment, not a source of record.
9. Availability and changes
Sin Bin is provided free and "as is". We may change, add or remove features, questions or modes, and we may pause or stop the service, at any time. Games depend on an internet connection and on the host's device, so rooms can drop out, and saved matches may not always be recoverable. We'll try to give notice of major changes where we reasonably can.
10. Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that can't be excluded.
Subject to that, and to the extent the law allows:
- we give no other warranties about Sin Bin, including that it will be uninterrupted, error free or fit for a particular purpose;
- we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, loss of data, or loss arising from other players' content or conduct;
- because Sin Bin is free, our total liability to you for any claim relating to it is limited to AUD $100, or, where a consumer guarantee applies, to supplying the service again.
11. Your responsibility
If you break these terms or the law while using Sin Bin, and that causes a claim against us, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of dealing with it, except to the extent we caused the problem.
12. Links to other sites
Sin Bin may link to other websites, such as a club's Wikipedia page. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for them.
13. Ending things
You can stop using Sin Bin at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms. Sections 5 to 11 and 14 continue to apply after that.
14. General
- These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia, and you and we submit to the courts of Queensland and the courts that can hear appeals from them.
- If part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.
- If we don't enforce a term straight away, we haven't given up the right to do so later.
- We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version, and if you keep playing after a change, the updated terms apply. If you don't agree with a change, please stop using Sin Bin.
15. Contact
Questions, complaints, or reporting content or a player: email ommybase@gmail.com. Include the room code if it's about a game.
